Facing Fear, Finding Flow: to the Women Who Brave the Water

There’s something powerful about a woman in the ocean. Something wild, intuitive, and deeply connected, we are after all custodians of the ocean! But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

Whether it’s paddling out through heavy water, sitting in the line up feeling out of your depth, or facing a wave that looks just a little too big, fear shows up. And that’s okay.

Discomfort in the water is a teacher. It reminds us we’re alive. It invites us to lean into trust, trust in our bodies, in our breath, and in our right to take up space out there.

Surfing has brought me face-to-face with so many moments of self-doubt. I’ve had sessions where I’ve cried in my wetsuit, where I’ve paddled back in because it all felt too much. But every time I’ve stayed a little longer, breathed a little deeper, and let the fear move on, I’ve grown.

So if you’re feeling intimidated, you’re not alone. If your heart races before you paddle for a wave, same!! But this is where the magic lives. Right at the edge of your comfort zone, where you learn just how capable you really are.

And when you’re out there with other women, cheering each other on, laughing through wipeouts, celebrating every small win, it becomes so much more meaningful that you’ve pushed through the discomfort. A reminder that we’re not doing this alone.

Let’s keep showing up for ourselves, for each other!

You’ve got this!!
